Within the framework of the Erasmus+ “T-GREEN” (“Transforming Graduate Education for Green and Sustainable Future”) project, a workshop was held at the Catholic University of Portugal (Porto) to discuss the results of the pilot implementation of master’s degree programs.

The three-day workshop, held on December 2–4 of this year, brought together representatives of partner universities from Armenia and the EU, as well as several consortium members, to discuss the outcomes of the pilot implementation of master’s programs and issues related to their further improvement and sustainability.

The workshop opened with welcome speeches by representatives of the Catholic University of Portugal and the Armenian partners, highlighting the importance of modernizing higher education in line with the demands of a sustainable and “green” future, as well as the consortium’s unified approach to the development of double degree programs.

Representatives of EU partner universities provided comprehensive information on the legislative frameworks, national regulations, and institutional procedures related to joint, double, and multiple master’s programs in Portugal, Lithuania, Poland, and Greece. By sharing their experience in program dissemination, student recruitment, quality assurance, and internal regulations, they enabled Armenian universities to gain a clearer understanding of implementing processes aligned with European standards.

Armenian partner universities presented the results of the pilot implementation of newly developed master’s programs in the fields of economics, agriculture, architecture, engineering, management, and information technologies. Achievements were recorded, as well as the need for additional cooperation and capacity building.

During the workshop, reference was also made to the main provisions of the newly adopted Law on Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, which provides a comprehensive legal framework for the implementation of joint master’s programs.

Representatives of the Higher Education and Science Committee addressed the key amendments introduced by the law, noting that the development of secondary legislation is necessary for its full implementation. In this regard, the experience accumulated within the T-GREEN project can play an important role in the development of national regulations.

It was also particularly emphasized that within the framework of the T-GREEN project, three new master’s programs have been developed and introduced at Yerevan State University: “Green Economy and Governance” (Faculty of Economics and Management), “Blockchain and Digital Currencies” (Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics), and “Sustainable Cities Management” (Faculty of Sociology).

Starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, the one-year master’s program “Blockchain and Digital Currencies” has been successfully launched at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics. In addition, several courses at the Faculty of Biology of YSU have been reprofiled, and the curricula have been enriched with five specialized subjects incorporating “green education” components.

The workshop concluded with an agreement on the dates and structure of the project’s final international conference.

The conference will take place on February 17–19, 2026, in Yerevan.

The T-GREEN project, launched in 2023 and co-funded by the European Union, is aimed at reforming the post-bachelor education system, with particular emphasis on the integration of “green” policies.

The project is coordinated by the National Polytechnic University of Armenia and Eurasia International University.

The Armenian partners include the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia; the Higher Education and Science Committee; the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance; Yerevan State University; Armenian State University of Economics; French University in Armenia; National Polytechnic University of Armenia; Armenian National Agrarian University; Goris State University; Gavar State University; as well as the NGOs “Erasmus Student Network Yerevan” and “Hope Bridge.”
